Some cultural differences translate better than others. Bowing, for example, is pretty easy to explain.
Breakfast, though – breakfast is a hard thing to mess with. Try telling someone that another country's ideal start to the day includes something called a "century egg." Or better yet, try having him eat that thing – and there could be some problems. Those problems are compounded when the person in question is an elementary-schooler.
Cut Video and KichenBowl partnered to create this video that subjects children to breakfast foods from around the world and gauges their reactions. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the kids aren't particularly thrilled. (Also unsurprising: One of them didn't know Finland was a country. But the girl is, like, six.)
As someone whose breakfast is frequently whichever half of the sandwich I got on the way home from the bar last night, I am jealous. Please someone feed me international foods to evaluate my reactions.
