New Yorkers were definitely not lovin’ it as McDonald’s finally started serving breakfast all day on Tuesday.

More than 14, 300 Mickey D’s restaurants in the country are participating in the eggy experiment — but some eateries don’t offer the full breakfast menu.

“I only get the egg and sausage on a biscuit, but that wasn’t available on the ‘all day’ menu, ” complained Margaret Allen, 60, of Murray Hill after she tried to get a breakfasty lunch at a McDonald’s on Fulton St. in Lower Manhattan.

At the same time it is offering these hefty items all day, McDonald’s is doing some belt-tightening.

She ended up with a sausage McMuffin and was disappointed.

“I don't really like it, ” she said. “I wish they had more of their breakfast options for the ‘All Day Breakfast’ menu."

Her minor setback was nothing compared to Americans imprisoned in areas of the country where hash browns are not being served. For many hours on Tuesday, fried potato lovers registered their outrage on social media.

"As if today could get more depressing, no all day hash browns or mcgriddles, " tweeted Michigan resident Tommy Franz.

The complaints were so intense that McDonald's was forced to issue a statement that hash browns are available in 90% of the U.S. market.

Whatever is on the menu, McDonald's is late to the all day breakfast table. Other companies — and virtually every diner in the world — have been in the breakfast all day business for years. Last year, even Taco Bell launched a breakfast menu last year featuring a biscuit taco. The company’s ad campaign mocked McDonald’s as boring.

McDonald’s fought back on social media Tuesday, with gifs and other tweets designed to hype the effort with the hashtag #alldaybreakfast. The Illinois-based company said all-day first-meal offerings such as Egg McMuffins, pancakes, and hash browns were the single biggest customer request.

Even as it unveils more breakfast items, the company is in the midst of some belt-tightening, with plans to close about 700 restaurants this year.

It’s unclear whether all-day breakfast will help. After all, one problem with offering breakfast foods all day is that sometimes people take a lunch break in search of lunch.
